We like working with leather. It's beautiful, durable, and has a character to it that is unlike any other material. It changes with time. It molds to your uses. It tells a story. The smell, the feel, the look, are all unique unto itself.

When we set out years ago to create a series of leather goods to accompany our Electric Torches, we did a deep dive into the material - we tried shoes, boots, bags, gloves, and many other items to see how it felt, how it behaved, and familiarized ourselves with the intricacies of the medium.

There are many tanneries around the world, but selecting the leather for a Muyshondt product was not difficult. Horween Shell Cordovan is one of the best leathers on Earth - aged for a minimum of six months, and used in the finest footwear. Shell Cordovan is a material that will last multiple lifetimes, and we're proud to be able to offer protective accessories for our Electric Torches made from it.

These sheaths are a Muyshondt design made in collaboration with our friends at Ashland Leather - started by two tanners from the Horween Leather Company, they have an intuitive understanding of our materials of choice - how the leather is made, how it folds and wears, and how it behaves from hide to product, to help us create a superior and longer lasting sheath in every step of the process. 

They are created to be a form fit for your Maus and will patina gracefully with time - especially the undyed, natural variants, which will rapidly pick up color from your day to day life.

About Kangaroo

For our Maus sheaths we also offer a version made from Australian kangaroo, which has the strongest tensile strength of any leather. It's pliable, lightweight, and durable, and comes in a glazed undyed form, ready to start telling a story from your uses.
